Types of Tickets and Passes
For travel on the MRT Line-6, you can use a Single Journey Ticket, an MRT Pass, or a Rapid Pass. The MRT Pass is a magnetic, contactless integrated circuit ticket, commonly referred to as a smart card. Using an MRT Pass or Rapid Pass offers a 30% discount compared to purchasing single journey tickets.
How to Buy Tickets
Single Journey Tickets can be purchased in two ways:
- Manually at the ticket counters in stations.
- From Automated Self-Service Machines located at the stations. These Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) make it easy to buy tickets without standing in line.
How to Buy an MRT Pass
To obtain an MRT Pass, follow these steps:
- Download the MRT Registration Form: Click here to download.
- Purchase at Station Counters: MRT Passes can only be bought at ticket counters in stations. You will need to fill out a registration form and pay ৳500 (which includes a refundable deposit of ৳200).
- Pass Validity: The MRT Pass is valid for 10 years.
- Top-up Options: You can top up your pass at the self-service Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). Future updates will include online and mobile top-up options.
How to Buy a Rapid Pass
The Rapid Pass allows travel on Dhaka Metro as well as other public transport systems in Bangladesh. Here’s how to get one:
- Initial Cost: The cost for a Rapid Pass is ৳400, which includes a refundable deposit of ৳200.
