Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) is the largest electricity distribution company in Bangladesh. Established on October 25, 2005, under the Companies Act of 1994, DPDC has an authorized share capital of Tk. 10,000 crore, divided into 100 crore ordinary shares valued at Tk. 100 each.
DPDC commenced its business operations on May 14, 2007, after receiving permission on the day of its incorporation. The company began commercial operations on July 1, 2008, by taking over all assets and liabilities from DESA (Dhaka Electric Supply Authority). Since its inception with 655,908 subscribers, DPDC has experienced significant growth, reaching a subscriber base of 1,774,952 as of June 30, 2024.
The company’s overall management is overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of 12 members appointed by the government. Under the board’s guidance, DPDC’s strategic functions are managed by a dedicated team led by the Managing Director and supported by five Executive Directors responsible for the following divisions:
- Operations
- Engineering
- ICT & Procurement
- Finance
- Administration & Human Resources

Salary & Benefits
Monthly Basic Salary: Rs.51,000/-; 60% house rent (in Dhaka); 50% house rent in Narayanganj and Gazipur areas; 2 festival bonuses; 1 Baisakhi allowance; provident fund; gratuity; insurance; holiday allowance; medical facilities; travel allowance.
