Role Overview

The Communication and Advocacy Specialist will play a crucial role in Plan International’s response to the Rohingya crisis across Ukhiya and Teknaf camps. This role involves producing various communications and advocacy products, understanding donor trends, and contributing new approaches to maintain and create the image and values of the consortium. The position reports to the Communications Manager and the Head of Cox’s & CHT Programme through matrix management.

Key Responsibilities

ObjectiveDetails
Child ProtectionEnsure that girls and boys affected by the crisis are protected from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation through appropriate prevention and response interventions.
Health & HygieneReduce the transmission of diseases by promoting good hygiene practices and reducing health risks related to poor sanitation.
EducationRestore and increase access to safe, quality, and inclusive educational opportunities for refugee children and adolescents affected by the Rohingya crisis.
Communication & AdvocacyProduce communications and advocacy products in line with Plan International and ECW’s communication strategy.
InnovationPropose new approaches for maintaining and creating the consortium’s image and values.
Cross-Cultural CommunicationEffectively communicate across cultures and social strata.

Candidate Requirements

QualificationDetails
EducationMaster’s degree in Journalism, Development Studies, Social Studies, or a relevant subject.
Experience2-3 years in communication, journalism, information management, public relations, media, or advocacy.
SkillsCritical thinking, analysis, report writing, story writing, photography, videography, social media content development, brand management, negotiation, networking, and fluency in English and Bangla. Understanding of the local language in Cox’s Bazar or Chittagong is an advantage.
Technical SkillsGraphic designing, media relationship management, event planning, basic office electronic equipment use, and computer applications.
Interpersonal SkillsStrong ability to interact with diverse personalities and work styles. Ability to work independently, strategically, and collaboratively.

Compensation and Benefits

SalaryDetails
Monthly Gross SalaryBDT 95,815.00 to 107,791.00
BenefitsHospitalization for spouse and children, contributory provident fund, festival bonus, gratuity leave, group insurance, yearly medical check-up for employees.

Contract DurationUp to December 2025 with an initial one-year contract. High possibility of extension based on performance.
